¿What is the FICC/CIFF?
The Festival is a celebration of international cinema and creation, from one of the most cinematic borders in the world. In an effort to support the binationality of culture on the border, we want to give special attention to cinema created in the California region, within an international framework. Culture has no borders and cinema has proven to be a form of universal communication. The festival wants to recognize the efforts of filmmakers, especially independent ones, who fight to bring their work forward. Once a year, on May 8, we will present the awards corresponding to each category, in different venues depending on the award. The main event will be held at the Tijuana Cultural Center, in the Monsivais room, with the screening of the award-winning film.
Other awards will be presented in San Diego CA, at the Cine Digital Gym, thanks to the support of the Mexican Consulate in that city and at the CCCM, of the Mexican Consulate in the city of Los Angeles CA. where each year we will give a special recognition dedicated to people in Californian cinema who have stood out for some work. Whether they are Mexicans in the USA or vice versa.
The festival will take place over two weeks, in the different venues that have granted us the privilege of hosting our festival.
We wish to be able to contribute a grain of sand to the world of cinema, to the viewing of border and international works and to be able to introduce new talents in this seventh art.
